Introduction :

Kayachikitsa is the subject taught in the final year B.A.M.S. Professional Degree course, it is the important basic clinical subject of Ayurveda. Kayachikitsa is the foremost branch of Astanga Ayurveda.
Kayachikitsa deals with the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of disorders like, geriatric medicine (Rasayana), Aphrodisiac medicine (Vajikarana), skin disorders, Diabetes and other lifestyle disorders, general medical disorders, arthritis and joint disorders.
Kaychikitsa department is the backbone of Ayurveda medicine. Diseases like skin disorders, diabetes, tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis and many other disorders are diagonised and treated with Ayurveda medicines.
This department is essentially concerned with education, research and patient care in the area of Ayurvedic Internal Medicine and its clinical specialties.
At our deprtament we have 4 seats for Post Graduate degree course M.D. (Kayachikitsa). The Department is approved by MUHS.
Department has well qualified, studious co-operative and experienced staff. Departmental library is well maintained. Dr. G.D.Pol Foundation Ayurveda hospital is attached for clinical knowledge where a variety of cases are available as clinical material. Students get knowledge of Ayurveda as well as modern science to face emergency conditions. We have an ICU facility as well.
The department offers teaching and training modules on general medicine according to Ayurveda and Modern Medicine.
We offer specialized teaching on neurology, cardiology, nephrology and manasaroga. We conduct seminars, clinical discussion and departmental seminars as well.
By conducting both intellectual and practical interaction with house surgeons our students are ready to except challenges in emergency conditions. We have a variety of patients that help our students to gain quality education.

Objectives :

  • Department takes effort to prepare best clinicians, academicians and socially aware person during college life.
  • Department is interested in conducting research in providing cure & care for chronic diseases with the help of Ayurved.

Departmental Features:

  • Kaumarbhritya department has a separate UG library, charts, and models essential for teaching.
  • PG students are promoted for clinical research work by faculty of department.
    At present 8 students have completed PG, and 12 are admitted for the year 2013.

General and special activities of the Department :

  • Kayachikitsa dept has been organizing CME for students, teachers and medical officers. We conduct panchakarma seminars for students
  • Regular Interactive Discussion on the basis of Commentaries of Compendia is conducted in the department.
  • Department takes part in various Health check up camps organized by Institution. Camps are organized at rural areas like Kasheli, Mangoan, Shahapur, Dahanu etc
  • Department took active part in prevention of epidemic of Swine flu by participating in vaccination programme and in promoting Ayurvedic medicine (Guduchyadi Quath).
  • Department promotes PG students in clinical Research work.
  • Case presentations and clinical meetings.

Special OPD’s

  • Kayachiktsa department runs special OPD’s for chronic aliments e.g. diabetes, heart block, spinal disorders and psoriasis.
  • Our department is planning to get collaborated to ATRAC – for providing concomitant therapy to Oncology patients (Under planning).
  • Our department runs a general Ayurveda OPD at Vashi Navi Mumbai Municpal Corporation Hospital to provide benefit to the patients with chronic aliments.

Special Activities :

On 14th November Dept. of Balarog – Pediatrics organized Healthy Baby competition and fancy dress competition to celebrate children’s days with the aim to motivate parents to keep their baby healthy & fit. This provided an opportunity to children to show their skills and boldness. We have been celebrating Children’s day successfully since last 2 years with huge support from everyone.
